EMC #RecoverPoint Replicating #VMware ESX..
Its no coincidence that the name of this post follows this doc, here.
Go ahead open it up, its worth a read. If your considering replicating your virtual environment then you best get up to speed. I know you have many questions, you always do..so what scenarios does this cover? Well here are few…
- Replicating a physical environment to a virtual environment
- Replicating a virtual to virtual environment
- Configuration of Recoverpoint in regards to VMware
- LUN resignaturing requirements on ESX 3.X (not needed on ESX 4)
- Best practices for VM swap and temp files (although I don’t fully agree with this stance)
- Common RP and VMware management tasks
- Extending VMFS volumes
- Recovery from a disaster using VMware and Recoverpoint
- and Recovery with RP and VMware Site Recovery Manager
Here are the two main replicated scenarios:
Array or Fabric Based Splitter based replication of full VMFS volumes..
This is by far a thorough document. It is EMC literature but very much covers both technologies to the level of best practices, different design scenarios, and implementation considerations.
Well get to reading people, I have lost the will to write. Bummed I’m not going to VMworld this year…such is life..but we have great representation there so stay tuned.
Look for great posts of the events @ http://www.varrowblogs.com.
