Betting the farm on #EMC..
Nothing thought provoking here, just some corralled words... I must say I have been truly impressed, as of late, with the integration points and awareness between EMC products (most notably RecoverPoint and Navi) and VMware.
Being one that has always been on both sides of the electric fence (VMware/EMC storage) there has for many years been a dust cloud of frustration building. Frustration encrusted around inadequate cross-layer management tools. Tools that did what they did but not much more. One layer that was so much dependent on its upper and lower layers but often not managed with a much needed holistic toolset.
- So imagine the time saved by quickly being able to view the mappings between your virtual and storage environments.
- Imagine a world of muted or nonexistent conversations between Sid the Storage guy and Vinnie the VMware guy on LUN to Datastore mappings and the lack of understanding from either end that pursues…
- Imagine a world of springy fault isolation, down the I/O chain all within in a single integrated, native, real-time interface.
Its not enough to ride your discipline on the straight and narrow. Its now imperative that one, no matter what side of the fence, understands these layered interdependencies. Sid needs to talk Vinnie talk and vice versa..
Need more chicken feed, look here…
Now as I mentioned there is nothing provoking around this post just a simple question…Who will you bet the farm on? A storage vendor that drives itself, prides itself to innovate, to integrate, and to proliferate or one that has been riding the same jive turkey train since its inception.
You know where I’m all in…
